Goth Slang Word of the Day
- Blowfish: A goth that is seen wearing a ton of spikey jewellery and piercings, looking like that of a puffed up blowfish.
Goth Band of the Day
- London After Midnight [formed in 1990, American]
Unless you are a shut-in and you hate the television, everyone has bound to watch some form of entertainment on the TV. Be it cartoons, dramas, soap operas, or what-have-you, we have all watched something on TV. Like everything else, Goths have a common ground and choice of certain movies and shows that air. Some shows popular, some not so remembered.
Movies
There are a stockpile of movies that could be considered gothic from the creation of the first vampire movie, Nosferatu, to today's cinema hits. It just depends on what suits your fancy. Generally however, movies that are considered goth include.
- Black and White movies with monsters. Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman. These old movies are both classic and goth.
- 80's 'Horror' Films. I don't know what else to clasify them. They aren't Freddy Cougar cheese horror, but rather just the classic macabre that you can still find entertaining. I would add the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Little Shop of Horrors, and the Addams Family for this list.
- Tim Burton movies. For some odd reason, most of Tim Burton's work is considered gothic, though I don't think he ever claimed himself a goth. These movies include Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, as well as many others.
- Vampire/Werewolf features. The Underworld movies have gained recognition for being goth movies, as well as the Vampire Chronicles series and Day Breakers.
- Fantasy/Sci-Fi movies. Labrinth, Lord of the Rings, The Dark Crystal, and Van Helsing as well as a few others are good examples of fantasy movies that could be considered goth.
There are many more to add to this list. If you wish to see a more elaborate compiled list, then click here.
TV Shows
Both cartoons and live-action shows have shows that are considered to be goth. The Munsters are a good example of this. Others include:
- The Addams Family (The show)
- Invader Zim
- Metalocalypse
- Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
- NCIS
- Charmed
- Ghost Whisperer
- Twilight Zone
- Are you Afraid of the Dark?
- GooseBumps
I'm sure there are many more, but theses are the ones that I am familiar with. If you happen to know one, tell me and I'll gladly put it up for you with credit to you.

I can agree with fantasy and Tim Burton. Very artistic man. But what of George Romero? I love zombies...actually more than is healthy...
goth guide...what a great idea!

George Romero seems to simply focus on the horror and gore of Zombies. Goth is about the macabre beauty found within death...not blood and guts. lol
